South Dakota State University (SDSU) Extension is offering an exciting, hands-on lead teaching opportunity with the title of 4-H Program Manager, Outdoor Education. In this role you will provide research-based education resources, leadership, and support to meet the needs of youth while building relationships to carry out the mission of SDSU Extension. This position is a 12-month, full-time, benefits-eligible position and is supervised by the State 4-H Program Director. This position will be located in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
SDSU Extension 4‑H is a community that provides experiences where young people learn by doing. Youth complete hands-on projects and build readiness skills in positive environments where they receive guidance from caring adult mentors. Youth experience 4‑H through in-school and after-school programs, special interest and community clubs and 4‑H outdoor education experiences. We recognize that the youth of today are our future leaders and what they learn and experience in 4-H will help them develop into contributing to citizens who will give back to their communities in the future.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Within The Outdoor Campus, provide 4-H program and policy supervision as well as direct education in support of outreach and older youth retention initiatives;
- Actively contribute to camping, outdoor leadership, etc. programs, including both education and leadership responsibilities; and
- Serve as a general team member of the South Dakota 4-H program.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Child or Youth Development, Education, Natural Resources Management, Outdoor Recreation, Biology, or other related fields with documented relevant youth development coursework and/or work experience prior to beginning employment.
- Three years of related work or volunteer experience.
- Proficient in using a computer for basic word processing, managing electronic communications, and generating reports.
- Valid driver’s license or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Demonstrated experience in planning, teaching, and evaluating educational programs for a variety of youth audiences;
- Demonstrated experience in managing operational elements such as scheduling and supervision; and
- Demonstrated experience in leading a team.
