Job Summary
The Process Operator plays a crucial role in the soybean processing plant, overseeing computerized controls and adjusting equipment to ensure proper drying, cracking, and cleaning of soybeans. This position requires independence, task-oriented thinking, and physical activity.
Main Responsibilities
- Operate equipment for soybean drying, stress cracking, and cleaning.
- Complete documentation related to the dryer and pre-clean process.
- Sample and perform flash tests on oil tanks to verify Hexane residual levels.
- Measure bean bins, receiving, and day bins.
- Conduct daily scale checks and notify management of any issues.
- Communicate equipment problems or safety concerns within the work area.
- Maintain areas according to SDSP sanitary standards.
- Comply with SDSP's Safe Quality Food (SQF) program and policies.
- Perform duties outside normal responsibilities as needed to support the team and organizational goals.
Requirements
Basic Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Basic math skills.
- Basic computer skills, including data entry into a spreadsheet and email utilization.
- Dependable, self-motivated, and able to work independently to achieve a common goal.
Physical Requirements
- Frequent bending, squatting, climbing ladders and stairs, kneeling, standing, walking, handling objects, reaching above shoulder level, pushing/pulling, carrying/lifting 25-50 lbs.
- Occasional crawling, sitting, using fine finger movements, carrying/lifting over 50 lbs.
Working Conditions
Work on and around high structures, around moving machinery, exposed to marked changes in temperature, excessive noise, driving motorized equipment, working in confined spaces, exposed to dust, occasional exposure to fumes.
