High Plains Processing is seeking a Production Support Specialist for the soon-to-be switch plant in Mitchell, South Dakota. High Plains is affiliated with South Dakota Soybean Processors and their strategic partners. This position supports production and organizational goals by ensuring smooth front end operations, creating a high value customer experience, managing inventory, supporting the lab, purchasing of parts and supplies for the facility, and providing clerical support to the plant. We are currently hiring (1) Production Support Specialist to start May 2025.
Primary Responsibilities
Safety
- Keep safety at the forefront through compliance, training, identifying potential hazards, reporting incidents, knowing emergency response procedures and actively participating in safety initiatives.
- Maintain all interior and exterior work areas in accordance with SQF compliance and safety policy and procedures.
- Work with the safety department and SQF management to comply with employee, product safety, and environmental compliance program standards.
- Maintain standards above minimum compliance with all governing laws and regulations.
People
- Represent HPP when greeting customers, vendors, and visitors in a friendly, helpful, professional manner.
- Professionally interact and clearly communicate with all facility team members and departments.
- Engage as a team member, actively completing daily tasks and additional duties.
- Develop strong relationships with all internal departments.
Communicate and Collaborate
- Notify supervisor of any observed safety, environmental, quality, or production opportunities.
- Communicate with oncoming crew of all happenings, findings, or concerns that took place during shift.
- Act as liaison to HR and Accounting departments to support and facilitate resolution on various employee needs.
General
- Serve as the point person for all reception, clerical tasks, and projects which could include but is not limited to; performing general clerical duties as well as order supplies and assist in maintaining common areas in support of multiple departments, utilizing a schedule of daily, weekly, quarterly, annual tasks and projects.
- Accurately complete the necessary documentation for record keeping and maintaining reporting
- Schedule, coordinate, and set up conferences, meetings, or events. Create agendas, supplemental documents, records, notes, and formal meeting minutes for distribution to relevant parties.
- Lead/assist with purchasing of plant needs (consumables, safety equipment, maintenance and spare parts, etc.)
- Understand and comply with facility policies and procedures to ensure all facility or company objectives and goals are achieved.
- Manage critical team equipment such as locks, radios, and uniforms
- Perform duties outside normal responsibilities as needed to support the team and overall organizational goals.
Basic Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Basic computer skills including entering data into a spreadsheet and utilizing email
- Maintain a safe, positive work attitude and demonstrate willingness to be a team member
- Dependable, self-motivated, and able to work well with others
- Experience in a processing facility is preferred
