As part of the support staff team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service to the thousands of residents and visitors who rely on Game, Fish and Parks staff for outdoor industry information, related permits, and licenses. Your role involves connecting these individuals and their families to the outdoors.
Additional duties include basic accounting, maintaining filing systems, creating and maintaining databases, and recording fiscal activities to support office operations. To better aid the public, all support staff are tasked with learning about hunting, fishing, and trapping, as well as understanding basic policies and procedures.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Good people skills and general knowledge of South Dakota outdoors, hunting, fishing, boating, and state parks.
Knowledge of:
- business English including grammar, spelling, and punctuation;
- modern office equipment, practices, and procedures;
- basic bookkeeping;
- computer software applications;
- department rules, procedures, and functions;
- provide receptionist duties including interacting with the general public, answering phone calls, answering questions, and providing requested information and materials;
- accurately enter and track budget information, vehicle mileage reports, and various other staff reports.
Ability to:
- maintain confidentiality;
- type accurately;
- gather, compare, and summarize data from a variety of sources;
- operate a variety of office equipment;
- communicate information clearly and concisely;
- review and comprehend materials;
- establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the general public;
- proof and edit solutions to arithmetic problems involving addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages;
- transcribe material from machine dictation;
- formulate logical and reasonable conclusions from available information.
