South Dakota State University (SDSU) is currently seeking a highly motivated and detailed Research Associate to join our Chemistry, Biochemistry and Physics department. This position will provide technical assistance to research through Sequencing Core Facility and COBRE center. This position is located in and is a 12-month, full-time, benefits-eligible position.
The Genomics Sequencing Facility provides sequencing services to all SDSU researchers and to others across the state of South Dakota and beyond. The facility works in a highly collaborative environment with an open-door policy for users and stakeholders.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan and guide sequencing runs on Illumina and Oxford Nanopore platforms.
- Oversee the operation, maintenance, and supply management for sequencing equipment.
- Prepare DNA / RNA libraries for a variety of applications.
- Manage sequencing data and deliver results to customers.
- Conduct experiments to meet research objectives.
- Supervise hourly / temporary staff and oversee their duties as needed.
- Collaborate with customers (e.g., COBRE RPLs and scientists) on experimental design, manage sample intake and documentation, perform bioinformatic data analysis, train customers on analysis tools, and deliver publication-ready figures and results interpretation.
- Contribute to writing sections of manuscripts, grant proposals, and progress reports.
