The South Dakota State University School of Design invites applications for two (2) Instructor of Architecture positions to begin no later than August 2025 . These are full-time, 9-month, benefit eligible appointments and the positions report to the Director of the School of Design.
The School of Design has three accredited-built environment majors : architecture, landscape architecture and interior design. The School of Design also includes visual arts : graphic design, and studio arts. Collectively, School faculty form a collaborative teaching and research environment that values cross-program and interdisciplinary initiatives. The successful candidate will contribute to building national and international stature and recognition for the discipline, School and University.
SDSU offers a 4-year Bachelor of Fine Arts in Architecture and a 2-year NAAB accredited Master of Architecture degree. Architecture has a unique mandate to remain a small program of no more than 220 students, making it one of the smallest architecture programs in the USA working within a fabric of small agrarian and mining cities. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Teach courses within the professional curriculum, such as design studios, lectures, seminars, and workshops.
- Provide service to the discipline, university, and community.
- Teach in multi-disciplinary courses within the School of Design.
DISCIPLINARY CONTENT AREAS :
Architectural building design, technology, sustainable construction, studio pedagogy, design process, and professional practice.
SALARY :
The salary is commensurate with qualifications, minimum of $62,000. We offer a generous retirement plan that includes 6% matching, 9.34 hours of sick leave each month, and eleven paid holidays. Relocation benefits are available per university's guidelines.
