Playing and/or coaching experience preferred.

JOB SUMMARY: The head coach is responsible for planning, directing, and leading an education based athletic program that seeks to develop athletes into highly effective, and productive young men.
The South Dearborn Knights are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Boys Varsity Basketball Coach who is deeply invested in the community and passionate about building a strong, competitive program. The ideal candidate will possess a vision for developing young athletes both on and off the court, fostering a culture of teamwork, discipline, and success. With a talented roster that boasts exceptional depth and promise, the Knights are primed for continued growth and success. We are looking for a coach who can not only maximize the potential of this talented team, but also create lasting connections with our players, school, and local community to ensure the program’s long-term sustainability. The successful candidate will have the full support of the administration in helping to develop and grow the program, with resources and collaboration aimed at fostering a winning environment both on the court and beyond.
The coaching stipend is $7,279 for the season and an additional $4,458 for offseason activities.
We have a variety of teaching positions available.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Follows the rules and regulations of the school, the conference, and the IHSAA.
- View the rules interpretation meeting held by the IHSAA.
- Maintain a membership in the appropriate coaches association and participate
so that our school has representation.
- Stay current with new trends in coaching, training, conditioning, and safety procedures.
- Attend school, conference, and sectional coaches meetings.
- Give input about and then carry out the interscholastic schedule as drawn up by the Athletic Director.
- Organize, schedule, and supervise practice sessions.
- Development written annual inventory list and recommend purchases to the A.D.
- Distribute and collect equipment and supplies.
- Responsible for reporting scores and disseminating team information for publicity.
- Participate in pre and post season meetings with the Athletic Director.
The post-season meeting will serve as an evaluation conference.
- Delegate responsibility to the assistant coaches as appropriate.
- Work to develop continuity between the community and school programs.
- Provide leadership in his or her program for all levels K-12 of the sport.
- Maintains appropriate supervision of his/her program at all times.
Supervises any and all space used by athletes while they are present.
- Assures that the squad at all times will reflect proper attitude and conduct at home or away.
- Establish and use a system of communication to athletes and parents that will include explanation of program policies, awards, procedures, goals, and schedules.
- Has responsibility for hosting the end of season awards programs.
- Represent the school in a professional manner in demeanor, language, and conduct
- All other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.
Evaluation: Performance of the job will be evaluated annually by the Athletic Director
