Job Overview:
The Equipment Operator is responsible for operating company owned machinery in a safe and effective manner. Capable of operating excavators, bulldozers, skid steers, backhoes, and front end loaders. Performs various manual labor tasks requiring some specialized skills.

Principal Responsibilities and Duties:
- Understand and adhere to all safety rules and policies.
- Participate in all safety training sessions, improve job safety skills and strive to develop the potential for advancement.
- Inspect heavy equipment and handle preventive maintenance daily.
- Operate equipment productively daily in all weather and ground conditions.
- Operate heavy equipment safety and efficiently as per legislation, policy and procedures.
- Operate bulldozers, skid steers, excavators, backhoes, and front end loaders.
- Operate vehicle mechanical attachments and equipments.
- Support Operators in equipment maintenance and check availability of equipment inventory.
- Use and maintain equipment and supplies.
- Encourage workplace safety and environmental practices improvement.
- Complete and maintains appropriate records as required.
- Determine appropriate procedures and equipment to be utilized when carrying out assigned responsibilities.
- Perform minor repairs on equipment issues.
- Report needs for larger repairs to the appropriate parties.
- Abide by all local, state, and federal regulations, as well as all company safety procedures.
- Commit to the overall safety of the work environment by always taking extra precautions to work with the utmost care and consideration.
- Maintain safe and controlled work environment at all times.
- Understand and adhere to all safety rules and policies.
- Travel to a variety of work sites for extended periods of time (up to 2 weeks).
- Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

PREFERRED:
- High School diploma or GED equivalent (preferred)
- Six (6) months' experience in equipment operation.

Physical, Environmental, and Special Working Conditions:
- Performs bending, squatting, kneeling, climbing, twisting, and reaching to ground level and overhead; lifts and carries up to 100 pounds
- Pushes and pulls up to 150 pounds.
- Holds and grips objects.
- Subject to working in awkward positions and periods of prolonged standing.
- Based on equipment available for use and weight of tools needed to perform function, must insure individual weight does not compromise the safety to self, co-workers, or equipment.
- Working conditions are primarily outdoors with exposure to dust and pollen.
- Occasional exposure to allergenic plants such as poison ivy.
- Subject to a variety of extreme weather conditions.
- Exposure to constant and extreme noise.
- Susceptible to mechanical and electrical hazards associated with equipment and utility lines.
- May be exposed to hazardous chemicals when working with pesticides.
- Subject to other safety hazards associated with tree trimming activities.
