Position Title: (.5 fte ) Speech & Language Pathologist

Location: South Elementary
Overview
This position provides speech and language evaluations, consultation, and direct services to eligible students.
Qualifications
-Master’s Degree, preferred
-DESE License of Speech Language and Hearing Disorders (All Levels) Required
-Commonwealth of Massachusetts Division of Professional Licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist
-American Speech-Language-Hearing Association Certification
-Certificate of Clinical Competency (CCC), Required
-Experience as a Speech and Language Pathologist in a school setting preferred
-Demonstrate knowledge and skills in the areas of child speech and language development
-Ability to handle multitude of varying and complex issues
-Excellent oral and written communication skills
-Excellent organizational skills
-Provide opportunities for the integration of technology into the classroom.
Responsibilities
-Provide students with intensive instruction in speech, language, communication, and pragmatic language skills as determined by the Team process and subsequent IEP formulation.
-Assess students via formal and informal test measures and write formal reports.
-Participate in the development of a student's Individualized Education Program (IEP).
-Assist teachers and other special education staff in the development and implementation of curriculum accommodations/modifications and appropriate classroom strategies as determined by the Team process and subsequent IEP formulation.
-Create a developmentally appropriate, child-centered environment that establishes positive student behavioral expectations conducive to all learners' needs.
-Provide an equitable and inclusive learning environment that is responsive to all learners and their families.
-Partner with families to create strong two way communication.
-Maintain appropriate records and provide timely reports.
-Collaborate and communicate with all colleagues to positively contribute to the school culture.
-Keep abreast of new information, innovative ideas and techniques for students with communication disorders.
-Responsible for other job-related duties as needed.
