RESPONSIBLE TO: Director of Parks & Recreation; Recreation Coordinator; or director's designee
RESPONSIBLE FOR: Overseeing, monitoring and enforcing safe play and activities of all age groups of visitors to the splash pad and surrounding area. Operating a small concession stand.
LOCATION: Fairview Park - Splash Pad Area and Mayview Pavilion/Concession Stand
WORK HOURS: Multiple park attendants will be scheduled to work variable hours and shifts. Total work time per attendant will be 20 hours to 30 hours a week. Shifts could occur Monday through Sunday between the hours of 9:30 a.m. and 7 p.m.
DURATION: Memorial Day through Labor Day; Up to 16 weeks; Summer Seasonal
WAGES: $13 per hour
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Arrive promptly, prepared and ready to begin the workday.
- Be willing to work a flexible schedule and weekends as needed.
- Greet and direct guests.
- Ensure visitors adhere to splash pad and pavilion rules, including safety.
- Be comfortable with providing direction or discussion to adult and youth guests regarding rules and regulations.
- Operate, sell and serve food and beverages at the concession stand.
- Ensure the splash pad and pavilion are clear of unwanted litter, obstacles and debris.
- Properly check water levels every two hours.
- Accurately and thoroughly complete incident reports.
- Remain alert to when the need arises to close the splash pad due to severe weather.
- Work outdoors with a wide range of fluctuating temperatures and the possibility of inclement weather conditions.
- Adapt to changing work situations or assignments.
- Lift up to 20 pounds.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities
- Communicate regularly with township leadership regarding happenings during shifts, such as safety concerns, equipment failures, supply shortage, incidents, inappropriate behaviors observed, unethical activities, etc.
- Adhere to opening and closing procedures.
- Interact regularly and positively with stakeholders, staff, program participants, park visitors, including during weekends, evenings and events.
- Participate in events as scheduled or required.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive events, visitors, employees, etc.
- Assist with emergency and non-emergency situations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Applicants must be age 16 or older. High school and college students are encouraged to apply.
- Reliable transportation is required; applicants must be able to get to and from the work site.
- Comfort working outside in all weather conditions.
- Strong interest in working in parks and aquatics, and with the public.
- Strong communication skills.
Required Background Clearances

- Pennsylvania State Police Criminal History Check
- Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance
- FBI Criminal Background Screening Check
Certifications
- CPR and First-Aid (township will provide training if certification is not currently held)
Training
- Attend mandatory splash pad water testing and concession training in mid-May
