Job Summary: The CDL Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of boats, equipment, and other goods to and from various locations. This role requires a skilled driver with a commercial driver’s license (CDL) who is capable of handling the logistical aspects of marine transport while ensuring the highest levels of safety and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities:
- Transport Boats and Equipment: Safely drive and transport boats, trailers, and marine equipment to and from designated locations, including customer sites, marinas, and service centers.
- Route Planning: Plan and follow optimal routes to ensure timely and efficient deliveries. Account for weather conditions, traffic patterns, and road restrictions.
- Vehicle Maintenance: Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure it is in good working condition. Perform routine maintenance and report any mechanical issues to the Fleet Manager.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all federal, state, and local transportation regulations and safety standards. Maintain a clean driving record and operate the vehicle in a safe and responsible manner.
- Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service by interacting professionally with clients and handling deliveries and pickups in a courteous manner.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of deliveries, mileage, and fuel usage. Ensure all necessary documentation is completed and submitted in a timely manner.
- Loading and Unloading: Assist with the loading and unloading of boats and equipment as needed, using appropriate lifting techniques and equipment.
Qualifications:
- License: Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a clean driving record. CDL Class A or B preferred.
- Experience: Previous experience as a CDL driver, preferably with experience in transporting boats or similar equipment.
- Skills: Strong driving skills, knowledge of transportation regulations, and the ability to navigate using GPS and maps. Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and move heavy objects, perform physical tasks associated with loading and unloading, and handle long periods of driving.
- Communication: Good interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with customers and team members.
