Summary
Fiberglass & Gel Coat Technicians are responsible for repairing cosmetic fiberglass and gel coat damage.They are passionate about delighting customers and achieving or exceeding the customers’ expectations through timely service, done in a profitable and efficient manner.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Identify defects such as: cracks, blisters, stress fractures and cosmetic flaws.
- Lead employees within the fiberglass department for continued success.
- Estimate repair times, plan for materials, coordinate jobs with management
- Grind out defective areas, smooth rough edges/areas by using appropriate power or hand-tools.
- Prep fiberglass, resins, and damaged areas for repair.
- Shape and smooth edges to match contour properly.
- Mix Gel coat catalyst and spray or brush repaired surfaces; match colors.
- Buff and polish repaired surfaces.
- Overtime and weekend work may be required as customer service needs fluctuate
Qualifications & Expectations
- 2 years of experience as a fiberglass specialist. Maritime experience preferred
- 2 years of experience in Gel Coat repair
- Customer satisfaction, both internal and external
- Effective customer communication
- Technician efficiency/productivity
