Position Summary :

South Florida Bible College invites applications for an Adjunct Professor qualified to teach undergraduate courses in English. This position is adjunct working oncampus only. There are currently no online openings. The applicant must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

Teach undergraduate courses (Reading and Writing Essentials Beginning College Writing Composition I and II Literature).

Preferred Qualifications :

Earned Ph.D. in English with an emphasis in Composition and Rhetoric plus experience teaching Composition.

Essential Qualifications :

Earned MA in English Literature or Composition and Rhetoric or a masters degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours in English Communications Creative Writing Journalism Linguistics Rhetoric or Composition.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Create an environment of learning through effective teaching skills maintain studentcentered focus.
  • Utilize a variety of teaching strategies and encourage active learning.
  • Create learning activities including assignments tests quizzes and labs and assess student outcomes in a timely manner through effective assessment and constructive feedback to students to support the learning process.
  • Perform lectures for campus courses and hold scheduled virtual course meetings for online courses. Teaching will be conducted through oncampus and online delivery.
  • Interact positively with diverse student populations; provide all students with equal opportunities for learning.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to the industry maintain knowledge and skill relevancy through continuing education as defined in the faculty development plan.

  • Strong organizational analytical and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to multitask while working independently and collaboratively with other teachers and university staff
  • Ability to interact professionally and constructively with students and staff at all levels in a multicultural multidenominational environment
  • Skills :

  • Proficiency using software programs such as MS Word and PowerPoint.
  • Recognize various rhetorical audiences and appropriate manners of addressing them.
  • Have the ability to analyze work participate in discussions and give constructive feedback.
  • Must be able to facilitate online lecture.
  • Interact professionally and constructively with students and staff at all levels
  • Prior teaching experience in a college setting is a plus particularly teaching online.
  • Teaches all courses as assigned by the Department Chair or Coordinator.
  • Maintains attendance and punctuality.
  • Always maintains a professional appearance.
  • Prepares course syllabi.
  • Meets all scheduled classes on the assigned day / time.
  • Uses scheduled class time appropriately.
  • Demonstrates a professional attitude philosophy and commitment that promotes student growth and learning.
  • Demonstrates commitment to the institutional mission goals and objectives.
  • Adheres to College Rules and Procedures which reflect updated Federal state and local legislation that governs the educational process.
  • Maintains accurate student records for grading and attendance purposes submitting grade reports within college deadlines.
  • Promotes and maintains a healthy and safe educational and work environment free from harassment and discrimination.
  • Demonstrates professional growth and development by updating knowledge of subject matter and using effective teaching techniques.
  • Develops maintains and promotes a positive working environment among departmental faculty.
