Job Description
A part-time, as-needed position to oversee and maintain a safe pool environment for all patrons utilizing South Florida State College recreational and instructional activities of the pool and pool area.
Duties and Responsibilities
Must have valid Lifeguard certification, as well as valid CPR and First Aid certificates. High school diploma or equivalency preferred. Preference will be given to individuals who are at least 18 years of age.

Reports To: Athletic Director, Student Life Coordinator, Program Director, or other supervisors as assigned.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Arrives promptly at the assigned duty time and station with a whistle and dressed in an appropriate one-piece bathing suit/assigned uniform.
- Ensures that assigned duty post is properly equipped.
- Provides a safe environment for all patrons.
- Enforces pool rules and regulations in a consistent, fair and equal manner.
- Maintains calm demeanor and notifies appropriate persons in the event of an injury or emergency in accordance with SFSC and lifeguarding emergency procedures.
- Maintains accurate and appropriate records of any injury or emergency.
- At the end of each duty period, ensures that entire pool and pool area is safe, clear and litter-free, and secures all equipment and pool area. In the event of being the last staff member present, ensures that all pool facilities are vacated before securing the area.
- Contributes to unit planning, assessment, and college institutional effectiveness efforts.
- Acts in accordance with College policies and procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
