South Fork Bakery partners with each person supported, regardless of need, to forge connections within their community and does so with respect and dignity.
We are currently looking for Job Coach/Direct Support Professionals who want to utilize their strengths and talents to work with the people we support. A Job Coach is responsible for providing 1:1 support to a person receiving Employment Services while on the job. This position would include job coaching, employment skills training, and advocacy aligning with employment guidelines. A Job Coach will work as part of a team to provide people with gainful and successful employment.
Minimum Qualifications: Commitment to assist people with developmental disabilities to participate fully in their community. Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent. Work or life experience in the I/DD field is a plus but not mandatory. Must have the ability to work in a variety of settings that may change frequently. This position requires the availability for flexible work schedules. Must have basic computer skills or the ability to learn. Must be able to speak and write proficiently in English.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Train those receiving Employment Services to perform job tasks as determined by the employer’s specifications.
- Assist in creating relationships for natural supports within the workplace of those receiving Employment Services.
- Develop and follow task-analyses to maintain consistency in job performance.
- Facilitate travel training to and from the workplace when necessary.
- Track and maintain employment data required for goals, billing, attendance
- Complete all daily, weekly, and monthly documentation as required.
- Successfully complete South Fork Bakery required trainings upon hire and maintain all required annual trainings.
- Model appropriate social skills, work ethics and procedures to the employee.
- Assist with activities of daily living, as needed, while promoting the achievement of a person’s highest level of independence.
- Implement behavior support plans and document accordingly.
- Respect the rights of the people served, including honoring their privacy when providing personal care, and always treating people with dignity and respect.
- Ensure a positive environment and honor individual preferences.
- Communicate effectively with people supported based upon their abilities.
- Promote independence in the workplace for the person employed
Job Type: Part time that may turn into full time within a year.
Pay: Commensurate with experience.
