POSITION SUMMARY
This position is designated for South Georgia Medical Center system (SGMCS) campuses where the total square footage responsibility is greater than 100,000 square feet, (or) consists of multiple campuses, and greater than 25 direct or indirect reports. Plans, organizes, directs activities of Support Services Departments which are necessary in maintaining SGMCS campuses and off-campus facilities physical structures, HVAC, mechanical and electrical systems, utilities, and grounds in an operative and safe working condition. Manages the Engineering, Clinical Engineering, Environmental Services, Linen, Safety and Environment of Care (EOC) departments either directly or through reporting personnel. Assists the Food Services Director/Manager to facilitate efficient operations. Accountable to the Assistant Administrator for planning and maintaining an effective organization for administering labor and material controls, training of personnel on job requirements, life and general safety and effective management practices. ; Serves as Safety Officer for assigned SGMC campus. Areas of responsibility include: the physical plant, structural maintenance, cleanliness of the facilities and environment, food services systems and personnel with the exclusion of dieticians, grounds, life and general safety. Works with Assistant Administrator to coordinates all Environment of Care (EOC) activities for South Georgia Medical Center and serves as consultant for affiliates. The Facilities Manager I shall be accountable for planning and maintaining an effective division for administering labor and material controls as well as training of assigned personnel for safety in the workplace and TJC and OSHA standards. Supports and participates in the CQI efforts to improve service.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Prefer degree in industrial safety, fire science or related fields with four years relevant experience. Six years of experience may substitute for degree requirements. Three Years of supervisory experience is required. Experience in health care safety, as safety officer or coordinator, is preferred. Ability to effectively utilize all associated computer programs including but not limited to: all Microsoft Office Products, Adobe Acrobat, a CMMS system, etc. Prefer CHFM, CHSP or CHC certificate and must possess the capacity to receive certificate within two years of hiring. Prefer working knowledge of TJC and other healthcare accrediting agencies i. e. , CAP, CARF, OSHA, EPA, CMMS, and other regulatory bodies. Ability to lead group sessions and train others. Self-motivated, capable of performing without close supervision; Ability to interface with all; levels of the healthcare system;; Required computer skills for collation of information;; Ability to analyze data for improvement opportunities;; Utilizes discretion in handling confidential; information.
