POSITION SUMMARY
- Assists the physician with preparation and application of orthopedic and related devices.
- Assists nursing staff in management of patients using orthopedic and related devices.
- High school graduate or GED preferred.
- One (1) year experience in related health care setting required. Experience in orthopedic or traction area preferred.
- Demonstrates ability to set priorities and utilize problem-solving skills.
- Flexible in work schedule, assignments and work load. Able to take call.
- Ability to read and interpret policies/procedures, standards and clinical protocols.
- Strong ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patient/family units and other staff members.
- Ability to operate patient information systems.
Works primarily in hospital setting, consistent shift and department. Rotates on an on-call schedule. Requires moderate to frequent lifting, (excess of 50 lbs), bending, and assisting in same using correct body mechanics. Likely to be exposed to blood and body fluids, including infectious diseases, on a daily basis. Requires extensive walking during shift. Physical functional capacity for healthcare as defined by Saunders Methods (very heavy).
