What are the responsibilities and job description for the Shelling Floor Hand position at South Georgia Pecan Company?
Job Summary
The shelling floor hand works with fellow team members to extract as much good meat out of pecans as possible. They do so by using an array of different machinery and processes specific to the current product they are handling, while maintaining a safe and high-quality product.
Reports
Reports directly to the Shelling Supervisor, Assistant Manager, and Manager.
Responsibilities
Uses machinery to crack, shell, sort, and roast pecan shells and meat.
Understands the shelling department process.
In charge of running the equipment in one or more areas of the shelling department.
Identifies and troubleshoots problems with equipment and processes.
Uses tools to fix mechanical problems with equipment.
Maintains a clean and safe work area.
May be required to learn multiple areas of the shelling department to have a more flexible work force.
May be required to drive a forklift.
Requirements
Must be able to frequently lift 50 pounds.
Must be able to work in hot and cold environments.
Must have reliable transportation.
Food Safety and Quality - All employees are responsible for food safety and quality.
Employees are responsible for reporting any food safety and quality problems to their Supervisor, FSQA Manager and/or Plant Manager.
Employees are responsible for supporting the SQF system.
