JOB TITLE: Security Officer- Parking Lot
REPORTS TO: Building Administrator

POSITION PURPOSE/SUMMARY
To assist the campus entry security guard with campus security duties while providing a safe place in which to learn, work, and develop.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
The Parking Lot Security Guard shall demonstrate aptitude for the successful performance of the tasks listed and meet the licensing requirements of applicable governmental agencies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
1. Close all gates except the main guard shack entrance at the start of the school day each morning.
2. Maintain a daily parking log summary to report campus and exterior building problems and submit to the main office daily. (i.e., vandalism, trash, etc).
3. Maintain a report on illegally parked vehicles and other parking violations to submit to the main office daily.
4. Check cars in the parking lot for missing parking permits and parking violations.
5. Inspect campus and building exteriors for needed repairs or vandalism.
6. Monitor all student activities on campus and check for appropriate passes.
7. Assist with vehicle problems, parking lot accidents, assigning temporary parking areas, and opening gates for emergency vehicles.
8. Stop all vehicles that fail to stop at the main gate.
9. Communicate with the entry guard regularly to report campus status and alert the campus entry guard of problems or violations.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES
1. Maintain a neat, clean personal appearance and wear district uniforms at all times while performing duties.
2. Perform other duties as assigned by the building principal or their designee.
3. Effectively communicate verbally, and in written form, with administrators, staff, and the community as needed.
MENTAL DEMANDS
Ability to maintain confidentiality and have the ability to reason and make appropriate decisions. Must be able to work independently, well under pressure, and negotiate conflict situations as they arise.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing these duties, the employee is regularly required to sit, walk, and stand. The employee will use hand strength to grasp and use tools, as well as to use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools or controls. The employee should have good vision and hearing capabilities. The employee must occasionally lift, move, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
The employee will work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions including extreme heat or cold. This job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties, or responsibilities that are required of the employee.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Employment will be on an at-will basis for 9 months, beginning with the first day of the work calendar or at the time of employment for the duration of the school year with prorated personal leave. Each employee will be provided a yearly work calendar showing the specific daily work schedule of the employees. The work calendar may be modified by the Board of Education at any time, as needs dictate. Seven and one-half hours (including a 30 minute non-paid lunch period) will constitute a workday. A definite daily schedule will be established by the Building Principal and approved by the Chief Human Resources Officer.
The yearly salary will be disbursed in nineteen (19) equal payments or twenty-four (24) equal payments per employee’s choice.
EVALUATION
Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with the provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of support staff personnel.
