SOUTH KINGSTOWN SCHOOL DEPARTMENT JOB DESCRIPTION Position: Assistant Boys Track Coach Location: South Kingstown High School Report to: Athletic Director and Head Boys Track Coach South Kingstown High School: South Kingstown High School is a public high school, dedicated to developing students to become problem solvers, critical thinkers, effective communicators, technology users, and contributing members of a global workforce and society. South Kingstown High School is a grade 9-12 comprehensive high school serving over 900 students. Position Summary: The Assistant Boys Track Coach is primarily responsible for assisting the Varsity Boys Track Team. The position also requires duties such as: Assist the 1--lead Coach with supervising athletes during practices and competitions. Assist the Head Coach with instructing players in the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the sport. Organize and direct individual and small group practice activities as directed by the Head Coach Assist the Head Coach with meet strategy. Maintains the equipment in orderly condition and assumes responsibility for its security. Model behavior and maintain appropriate conduct towards players, officials, and spectators Follow established procedures in the event of an athlete's injury Models nondiscriminatory practices in all activities Traveling to and from away contests Participates in special activities to include parent's night, banquets, award nights, etc. Attends staff development meetings, clinics, and other professional activities to improve coaching performance. Performs any other related duties as assigned by the Head Boys Track Coach, Athletic Director or any other appropriate administrator. Requirements: Rhode Island Teaching Certificate preferred 1-3 years of experience coaching Track at the High School level preferred Comprehensive knowledge of the game is paramount. Extensive knowledge of current coaching techniques and procedures Demonstrated ability to instruct and supervise student-athletes. Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Must possess the ability to relate to students and to teach them on and off the court. Must be willing to accept a high level of accountability. Must possess the ability to assess players. Candidates will be interviewed and the candidate who ranks highest in the interview process and meets the requirements of the position will be recommended for the position Completion of a successful Successfully complete the RIIL-NFHS sponsored Fundamentals of Coaching Course Successfully complete a standard First Aid and CPR course. Successfully complete the NFHS Concussion Course. (renewed annually) Successfully complete the Rhode Island State Component. (renewed annually) Successfully complete the online course NFHS Sudden Cardiac Arrest. (renewed annually) Successfully complete a Background check. Successfully complete any additional courses assigned by the RIIL. New coaching hires must complete all courses within six (6) months of date of hire. The Assistant Boys Track Coach is required to abide by the RIIL rules, abide by, and assist in implementing and enforcing all policies of the South Kingstown School District and the Athletic Administration. The Assistant Boys Track Coach stipend will be $2723.oo.
