What are the responsibilities and job description for the GI Technician position at South Loop Endoscopy?
SUMMARY The Gastroenterology (GI) Scope Technician, after sufficient orientation and training, assists the physician while performing Endoscopic Procedure. Performs appropriate care of expensive and delicate instrumentation and processes it carefully and in accordance with procedure and manufacturer's standards. Reprocess flexible endoscopes, related devices and equipment in compliance with standards and policies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assists the physician while performing Endoscopic Procedure.
- Assists with preparing, collecting, and labeling specimens for biopsy etc.
- Cleans and appropriately disinfects and sterilizes endoscopic equipment according to policy and manufacturer's recommendations.
- Maintains inventories of endoscopic equipment and supplies.
- Performs safety checks to verify proper equipment functioning.
- Prepares suites or rooms according to endoscopic procedure requirements.
The GI Scope Technician will work at our facility in Chicago, IL most of the time. There is only once in a month, he/she will work at our office in Oakbrook Terrace, IL.
