Duties and Responsibilities :
1. Teach courses in Medical Lab Assistant and Medical Lab Technician programs,
covering topics such as clinical chemistry, microbiology, hematology, blood banking,
and other relevant disciplines.
2. Develop and implement curriculum materials, lesson plans, and instructional
activities to meet program objectives and student learning outcomes.
3. Conduct laboratory sessions, demonstrations, and exercises to provide hands-on
learning experiences for students, ensuring safety protocols are followed at all times.
4. Supervise and assist students in laboratory work, offering guidance and support to
enhance their understanding and skill development.
5. Maintain laboratory equipment, supplies, and facilities in a clean, organized, and
functional condition, performing routine maintenance and troubleshooting as needed.
6. Prepare laboratory materials and resources for classes each week, including setting
up experiments, demonstrations, and other instructional materials.
7. Collaborate with program faculty and staff to assess program effectiveness, review
curriculum content, and identify opportunities for improvement.
8. Participate in departmental meetings, professional development activities, and
college committees as required.
9. Provide academic advising and support to students, helping them navigate program
requirements, career pathways, and academic success strategies.
10. Adhere to college policies and procedures, including those related to academic
integrity, student conduct, and safety regulations.
Required Education :
1. A bachelor’s degree in Medical Lab Sciences or a related field is required. Master’s
degree preferred.
2. Previous teaching experience in post-secondary education, particularly in community
college or vocational settings, is highly desirable.
3. Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or Medical Laboratory
Technician (MLT) by ASCP.
4. Knowledge of medical laboratory practices and procedures, including experience in
clinical chemistry, microbiology, hematology, and blood banking.
5. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple
tasks and responsibilities effectively.
6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact
professionally with students, colleagues, and stakeholders.
7. Commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment that
promotes student success and engagement.
8. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, contributing to program
development, assessment, and improvement efforts.
