South Mississippi Regional Center is a program of the Mississippi Department of Mental Health providing care and support for people with intellectual and other developmental disabilities. Each position at South Mississippi Regional Center is an important and impactful role that provides our individuals with the appropriate level of care to meet their social, emotional, physical, and personal needs.
Responsibilities:
Ensure all ICF/MR Regulations and SMRC Policies and Procedures are carried out and enforced. Serve as the primary person responsible for the program including record monitoring and physical environment evaluation. Manage the personnel, fiscal, and physical resources of the program. Provide onsite leadership and supervision for all unit staff. Provide primary technical and clinical support to the unit. Oversee all administrative/supervisory human resources matters to include scheduling, coverage, disciplinary actions, performance reviews, and staff training. Maintain a status of availability and schedule flexibility to the program, its operations, and clientele during working hours and after typical business hours. These times may include some evenings, holidays, and/or weekends. Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills as the director often interacts with administrative staff, family members, and entities within the community. Serve to coordinate program evacuation plans during hurricane season and ensure appropriate staff coverage during times of evacuation. Demonstrate a client-centered philosophy in regard to services, care, and training.
Qualifications:
Master’s Degree from an accredited four-year college or university and six (6) years of administrative experience, two (2) years of which must have been in line or functional administrative or advanced supervision or a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year college or university and seven (7) years of administrative experience, two (2) years of which must have been in line or functional administrative or advanced supervision. Applicant must have a valid driver license.
Special Experience:
Employment must have been in an administrative, professional capacity in an area of work related to the functional responsibility of the division in which the position exists. Work experience must have included supervising and coordinating a variety of functions.
