ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES
The role of the Medical Scribe is to improve documentation and make the process of treating patients more efficient by handling electric health records and documenting visits. The role accompanies physicians during their patient exams to manage medical documentation by summarizing their interactions with patients. Medical scribes review medical documents for errors, typos and inconsistencies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES
- Reports to Clinic Supervisor and Practice Administrator
- Prepare patient electronic health account
- Show patient to exam room and prepare patient for the provider; document patient history in the electronic health record, update patient medication list; scan documents into patient chart if needed.
- Assist provider transcribing exam into the electronic health record
- Scan any medical documentation into account as necessary
- Disclose information when required, using appropriate guidelines and following HIPAA regulations
- Clean patient care areas after each use
- Work on call shifts as assigned
- Attend staff meeting and complete mandator in-service education and training
- Perform other duties or special projects as required or assigned by management.
