Job Summary:
The School Psychometrist & Special Education Case Manager is responsible for administering and interpreting psychological and educational assessments to assist in identifying students with disabilities. This position ensures compliance with federal and state special education regulations while managing and coordinating services for students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). The role requires collaboration with educators, parents, and specialists to develop and implement appropriate educational plans.
Key Responsibilities:
Psychometrist Duties:
- Administer and score standardized psychological, academic, and behavioral assessments.
- Interpret test results and compile reports summarizing findings for IEP teams.
- Assist school psychologists and special education teams in identifying students with disabilities.
- Maintain accurate testing records and ensure compliance with Mississippi Department of Education guidelines.
- Participate in eligibility determination meetings and provide assessment-related recommendations.
- Stay up to date with best practices and legal requirements for student evaluations.
Special Education Case Manager Duties:
- Oversee and manage the IEP process for students with disabilities.
- Facilitate IEP meetings, ensuring all required team members are present and engaged.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, therapists, and administrators to develop and implement IEPs.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws governing special education services.
- Provide training and support to teachers on implementing accommodations and modifications.
- Monitor student progress and make necessary adjustments to educational plans.
- Maintain detailed records and documentation for special education compliance audits.
- Act as a liaison between the school, families, and external service providers.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Education: Master’s degree in Psychology, Education, or a related field.
- Certification: Must hold a valid Mississippi licensure as a Certified School Psychometrist.
- Experience: Prior school psychometrist testing experience and special education teaching experience preferred
- Knowledge: Understanding of federal and state special education laws (IDEA, Section 504, etc.).
- Skills: Strong assessment, data analysis, communication, and organizational skills.
- Technology: Proficiency in IEP management software (SEAS 3.0) and standard office applications.
Work Environment & Physical Demands:
- Work is primarily performed in a school environment.
- Requires travel between school sites within the district.
- Occasional lifting of testing materials and extended periods of sitting for assessments.
