What are the responsibilities and job description for the Substitute Playground Supervisor (At Will /On Call Basis / Hours Vary) position at South Pasadena Music Conservatory?
GENERAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Under general direction of school administration, monitors student and group behavior in the lunch area, cafeteria and on the playground; maintains a safe and clean atmosphere in the lunch area; uses good judgment regarding safety matters; enforces school playground rules; monitors and supervises students during recess, in classrooms in inclement weather; uses appropriate problem solving strategies to resolve student conflicts; notifies administration of safety hazards, vandalism, and other disruptive activities; assists in emergencies concerning students' vandalism, and other disruptive activities; assists in emergencies concerning students' supervision; demonstrates patience; responds positively to suggestions; is friendly and pleasant; assists school personnel as required; performs other duties as related.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION : Any combination equivalent to graduation from High School.
EXPERIENCE : One year of paid or volunteer experience working with multi-age groups of children. Training or course work in child growth and development, instructional technology, or a closely related field is highly desirable.
KNOWLEDGE OF : Modern office equipment and procedures; correct English usage, spelling, grammar, punctuation, basic math, telephone etiquette, report preparation, data input, and word processing.
ABILITIES / SKILLS : Demonstrates an understanding of diverse students, demonstrates patient and a receptive attitude towards students of varied age groups; ability to work with and motivate students; communicates effectively in oral and written form in English; be empathetic with students having special needs; understand and carries out oral and written directions; establishes and maintains cooperative working relationships with children and adults.
