Scrap Metal Entry Buyer/Processor
South Post Oak Recycling Center (SPORC) is a Houston based metals and electronics recycling business. SPORC is also a family owned and operated business since 1994. We recycle and buy metals such as aluminum, brass, copper, alloys, stainless steel, and electronics which are all sorted and processed on site. We have been a trusted partner and recycler to numerous companies and people for over 25 years. Job Overview
We are seeking a Scrap Metal Buyer/Processor who is a self-starter with a great attitude and is open to learning. As a scrap metal buyer, this role requires quickly learning various types of metals and using machinery such as balers, forklifts, and shears to process materials.
This role requires heavy lifting and operating at a quick pace. A viable candidate should have the ability to lift at least 50 lbs. comfortably.
Those with scrap metal industry experience or similar will be strongly considered. Experience in the scrap metal industry is not required as long as the candidate possesses other characteristics listed.
Responsibilities
· High level service and ongoing interaction with customers
· Accurately identifying various grades of scrap metal materials
· Hands on processing of materials purchased from customers
· Physically loading and unloading scrap material from vehicles
· Safely and accurately storing materials
· Baling, shearing, and sorting materials for shipping and receiving
· Ongoing preventive maintenance cleaning of warehouse facility
Qualifications
· Bilingual speaking preferred (Spanish and English).
· High school diploma or GED.
· Excellent customer service orientation.
· Experience working in an outdoor warehouse or similar environment.
· Willing and eager to learn. A quick learner and a desire to grow.
· Completes task quickly and accurately.
· Team player. Proven ability to work effectively with others.
