Adjunct I-BEST Professor

Adjunct faculty salary for the 2024-2025 fiscal year is $1,131.00- $1,154.00 per credit hour, as listed in the CBA(Download PDF reader).

South Puget Sound Community College (SPSCC) seeks highly motivated and qualified candidates for the position of Adjunct or part-time faculty members in Transition Studies: I-BEST/Auto who will:

• Create and facilitate contextualized and integrated learning experiences in the areas of Adult Basic Education in relation to identified college pathways that are linked to career goals. Adult Basic Education instructional areas include but are not limited to Language Arts, Mathematics, Listening, Speaking, Reading, Writing, and/or High School Completion for native and non-native speakers of English.
• Create authentic assessments based on I-BEST outcomes for the specific content course of students’ knowledge, skills, and abilities in Language Arts, Mathematics, Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing for native and non-native speakers of English that measure course, program, and college-wide outcomes.
• Apply multiple teaching and learning strategies that promote the affective, cognitive, and kinesthetic domains of learning
• Provide hybrid or in-person team-teach in professional technical and/or transfer IBEST course sequences.
• Establish rapport with students with a history of academic difficulties and motivate such students to develop academic skills.
• Coordinate weekly planning sessions with content instructor and end-of-quarter debriefing and attend monthly meetings with I-BEST faculty and Dean of Transition Studies
• Implement appropriate state and federal Basic Education for Adults (BEdA) student data collection and documentation and submit them in a timely manner as required, including WABERS data and NRS-approved testing, policies, and procedures.
• Support students in and out of the classroom, which includes directing them to campus services and resources
• Be available to teach classes on a variety of days and times

• Master’s degree or graduate certificate in Education, Adult Education, Post-Secondary Literacy, Developmental Studies, Teaching English for Speakers of Other Languages, or a closely related field from an accredited college or university.
• Demonstrated experience, expertise, cultural competencies, and commitment to equity in working with students, communities, and colleagues from diverse backgrounds and identities

• Master’s Degree in Education, Adult Education, Post-Secondary Literacy, Developmental Studies, Teaching English for Speakers of Other Languages, or closely related field from an accredited college or university.
• One year of experience teaching adult learners math, reading, writing, and/or digital literacy online, hybrid, and/or in person.
• Demonstrated experience with under-represented and under-served communities.
• Demonstrated experience designing curriculum.
• Experience in team-based instructional approaches including Integrated Basic Education and Skills Training (I-BEST).
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in department, division, and college wide committees to promote student success.
• Knowledge and experience working with learning outcomes.
