South Puget Sound Community College (SPSCC) seeks highly motivated and qualified candidates for the position of adjunct or part-time faculty members in Computer Information Systems/Computer Science who will:
SPSCC accepts applications for adjunct faculty (part-time) positions on an ongoing basis to establish a qualified pool of applicants. The applicant pool is created for future, part-time professor appointments for the individual program or course indicated. This announcement will serve as an open and continuous applicant pool. Appointment availability varies from quarter to quarter. Candidates selected from the pool will be contacted by the division should a vacancy arise.

Adjunct instructors will work with other faculty members, staff, and administrators to:
- Create and facilitate contextualized and integrated learning experiences in Computer Information Systems/Computer Science to identify college pathways that are linked to career goals.
- Be available to teach classes during the daytime or evenings and weekends. NOTE: There are software development and computer science courses during the day and in the evening/Saturday hybrid program.
- Teach courses online, hybrid, and/or virtually.
- Create authentic assessments of students’ knowledge, skills, and abilities in Computer Information Systems and Computer Science that measure course, program, and college-wide outcomes.
- Apply multiple teaching and learning strategies that promote the affective, cognitive, and kinesthetic domains of learning.
- Use a wide range of learning resources, tools, and technologies to improve access and student success in higher education.
- Support students in and out of the classroom, which includes directing them to student support services and resources.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
- Use local, state, and national data and analytics to enhance strategies to improve student success continuously.
- Bachelor's degree in Software Development, Computer Science, or closely related field AND at least five years of professional industry relevant experience, OR at least ten (10) years of professional industry experience relevant to computer science or computer information systems, including web development, data analysis, data management, data visualization, cybersecurity, network administration, and/or software design using the model-view-controller pattern.
- Ability to teach a mix of: C#, databases/SQL, and web development.
- Ability to work a morning or evening schedule.
- A Washington State Professional-Technical Faculty Certificate (or ability to become certificated) requires at least two years of applicable experience within the last five years.
- Use of Agile software development and release processes.
- Ability to establish community and professional public and private sector connections related to students’ educational experiences.
- A commitment and ability to work effectively with students of various cultural and socio-economic backgrounds, including a wide range of student preparedness and physical abilities.
- Demonstrated experience or participation with persons from diverse backgrounds such as sexual orientation, racial, ethnic, religious, linguistic, gender, age, socio-economic, physical, and learning abilities, and a commitment to an inclusive and equitable working/learning environment.
- Collaborative -- The ability to work in culturally diverse groups toward a common goal by involving, including, and valuing others.
