South Puget Sound Community College (SPSCC) seeks a highly motivated and qualified candidate for the position of Food Service Worker to support the café operations and Student Life programs.

As a member of the Student Life Food Service staff, will perform customer service and clerical support to café operations and Student Life programs. 
 
Duty: Provide customer service and clerical support for the SPSCC Café operations programs.
 Tasks include: 
 
  • Provide staffing duties to the SPSCC hot grill line operations, food preparation and provide direct service to students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
  • Stocking ingredients and kitchen supplies.
  • Maintaining clean and sanitized workstations.
  • Checking perishable ingredients and food items for freshness. 
  • Provide support to staffing operations in recruitment, hiring, and training of student employees.
  • Assist with supervision of hourly staff.  
  • Serve as lead to the hot grill in the Supervisor’s absence.
  • Support partnerships with Student Life, Personal Support Center, instructional culinary programs, and campus departments to develop and sustain food and beverage options for vulnerable student populations.
  • Assist with daily cash tasks, including the POS system, tills, change counts, deposits, and other fiscal operations tasks as needed. 
  • Exhibit exceptional communication and customer service skills, including working efficiently, adjusting to changing priorities, and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Respond appropriately and timely to questions regarding hot grill processes, purchasing, and service provided by the hot grill and food service operations.
  • Assist with the day-to-day operation of the Coffee Shop including daily food preparation and opening and closing tasks.
  • Assist with inventory tracking and management system, including monthly inventory processes and budget tracking as needed.
 
Duty:  Serve as support staff to the Student Engagement team.
Tasks include: 
  • Serve as a knowledgeable point of contact and support resource for students on behalf of the Hot grill and Student Life food service programs.
  • Assist in the implementation of Student Life and campus engagement programs via the hot grill food service operations.
  • Work as a team member on a wide variety of tasks and projects to support the Café operations.
  • Demonstrate commitment to the college’s diversity goals.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Food handling experience and current Washington State Food Worker Card.
  • Customer service and cashier experience.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for many hours.
  • Ability to work under pressure and accommodate numerous interruptions while performing multiple tasks.
  • Ability to maintain a positive and professional attitude.
Knowledge & Abilities:
Knowledge of: kitchen and dining room work; personal hygiene, sanitation, and housekeeping practices; operation of standard kitchen appliances and equipment, and routine cashiering procedures on a point of sale (POS) unit.

Ability to: learn routines involved in preparing and serving food, maintain sanitary conditions, follow written and oral instructions, receive payments, make change and issue receipts, operate calculator, and balance transaction records.
