What are the responsibilities and job description for the Learning Resource Center Administrator & Academic Success Programming Coordinator position at South Puget Sound Community College?
The Learning Resource Center Administrator & Academic Success Programming Coordinator reports to the Dean of Academic Success Programs and has three primary areas of responsibility: 1) managing a tutoring center; 2) developing and leading a cohesive program of academic success-focused supplementary instruction, including programming directed at students preparing to transfer; and 3) working collaboratively with the Writing Center Administrator & Tutor Training Coordinator to facilitate inclusive and meaningful training for student tutors across all disciplines. The Learning Support Service (LSS) Center is one of two tutoring centers on the SPSCC campus, both housed on the main campus. The LSS Administrator & Academic Success Programming Coordinator is expected to exercise initiative, independence, and discretion in both the development of academic success curriculum and the administration and daily operation of the LSS Center.

As the Learning Resource Center Administrator:
- Promote and participate in developing a marketing and promotional campaign supporting the LSS and Writing Center.
- Organize the daily operation of the LSS, including support for faculty, student, and tutor needs related to science, social sciences, business, math, engineering, technology, and health care. Develop and implement protocols and procedures to ensure efficient and safe center operations.
- Conduct regular staff meetings.
- Maintain the LSS’ web presence and other electronic media to connect the center’s resources accurately and efficiently to all students.
- Actively identify, recruit, select, and hire part-time classified and student tutors in science, social sciences, business, math, engineering, technology and health related disciplines for the center.
- Administer the online appointment scheduling system to track tutoring center use for assessment and planning purposes. Train faculty, staff, and tutors in its use.
- Collaborate with SPSCC Library staff to establish space policies that foster an inclusive, active, and shared learning space that meets the needs of all stakeholders.
- Coordinate, schedule, and conduct peer-led study group sessions, as appropriate.
- Collaborate with the Writing Center Administrator & Tutor Training Coordinator to administer the e-Tutoring program and monitor student use.
- Coordinate and manage tutoring services based on specific funding sources, such as Perkins grant funding.
- Develop work schedules for student and non-student employees.
- Attend new student orientations, open houses, and recruitment events as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
As the Academic Success Programming Coordinator:
- Establish and maintain a holistic academic success supplemental instruction program across multiple modalities and in the disciplines of science, social sciences, business, math, engineering, technology, and health care.
- In collaboration with multiple campus stakeholders, establish and maintain a holistic supplemental instruction program designed to guide students through the transfer process, from school selection to final application submission.
- Stay up to date on current best practices within tutoring and supplemental instruction for community college environments, including continuing education and training activities supporting this work.
- Collaborate with SPSCC teaching faculty to maintain and expand the embedded tutor program in identified keystone courses and develop supplemental instruction materials/handouts.
- Collaborate with the Writing Center Administrator & Tutor Training Coordinator to ensure student tutor training materials are relevant, timely, and useful.
- Collaborate with the Writing Center Administrator & Tutor Training Coordinator to provide a unified tutor orientation and onboarding.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- Knowledge of tutoring pedagogies and methodologies.
- Strong cross-cultural communication skills and knowledge of anti-racist learning strategies
- Experience collaborating with underrepresented, marginalized communities.
