Responsibilities
- Assess and evaluate student health needs through regular health screenings and assessments.
- Provide direct nursing care to students with acute and chronic health conditions.
- Develop and implement individualized healthcare plans for students with specific medical needs.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by healthcare providers.
- Collaborate with teachers and staff to create a supportive environment for students with developmental disabilities.
- Maintain accurate health records using electronic health record systems.
- Provide education on health topics, including nutrition, hygiene, and disease prevention.
- Respond to medical emergencies in the school setting, providing first aid and coordinating critical care transport when necessary.
- Participate in case management for students requiring ongoing medical attention or referrals to specialists.
- Communicate effectively with parents regarding their child's health status and any necessary interventions.
Qualifications
- Valid nursing license (RN) in the state of practice.
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities is helpful.
