CTE Communication Academy Teacher
Reports To: Principal
Position Overview:
RSS is seeking a dynamic and dedicated Instructor for our Communications and Broadcasting Academy. This role focuses on guiding students through courses designed to enhance their skills in digital media, broadcasting, design, gaming, marketing, etc. The ideal candidate must be eligible to obtain a Career and Technical Education (CTE) teaching license that aligns with the Communications and Broadcasting Academy course offerings. This position follows the guidelines outlined in Perkins legislation, integrating a career-focused curriculum to prepare students for success in communications and broadcasting-related fields.
Instructional Duties:
- Design and implement engaging lesson plans, projects, and assessments that meet both North Carolina State Standards and Perkins V legislation requirements.
- Guide students in producing professional-level content.
- Foster a hands-on learning environment emphasizing career readiness and real-world skills, preparing students to be employed, enlisted, or enrolled upon graduation.
- Utilize various instructional techniques to accommodate different learning styles, promoting critical thinking and problem-solving.
Necessary Skills:

- Strong classroom management and instructional skills to effectively engage diverse learners.
- Ability to collaborate with industry professionals to provide students relevant, career-focused learning opportunities.

Professional Development:

- Engage in ongoing learning opportunities to enhance instructional techniques and integrate innovative tools in the classroom.
Administrative Duties:
- Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, and behavior in accordance with school and district policies and CTE program requirements.
- Collaborate with school administrators, guidance counselors, and industry partners to support student internships, work-based learning, and career exploration activities.
- Participate in school-wide initiatives, faculty meetings, and professional learning communities (PLCs).
- Assist in coordinating Academy events, such as student showcases, field trips, and guest speaker engagements.
- Maintain compliance with Perkins legislation reporting requirements, ensuring that all program data, including classroom, lab, and shop inventory, is properly recorded and submitted.
Qualifications:
A bachelor's degree in a related field of: Education, Communications, Media, Marketing, Broadcasting, Technology, Game Art and Design, etc. is required.
- Eligible to obtain a CTE teaching license in North Carolina that aligns with Communications and Broadcasting Academy courses.
- Knowledge of Perkins V legislation and experience integrating career readiness standards into instructional practices.
- Proven ability to create a positive learning environment and engage students with varied learning needs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and student success.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous teaching experience in a high school or secondary education setting.
- Experience working in communications, broadcasting, or media-related fields.
- Familiarity with career pathways and industry certifications relevant to communications, broadcasting, design, or marketing.
Position Type: Full-Time, 10-month Term
Salary : $41,000 - $55,950
