What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Program Coordinator position at South Shore Educational Collaborative?
Qualifications: Appropriate DESE license and endorsement as required by the applicable SSEC program. Experience working with students in a school setting with academic, behavioral and/or emotional challenges, learning or developmental disabilities or autism preferred. Must be able and willing to physically restrain and/or lift students. Appropriate advanced degree and appropriate state license for the given SSEC program.
Experience in the development and administration of programs for the mild, moderate, severe, and/or profoundly handicapped, ages 3 - 21 years, is required.
Length of Position: 12 months depending on the program
Reports to: Program Director
Responsibilities: Perform the following at the direction of the program director or coordinator
- Supervise teachers, therapists and paraprofessionals in conjunction with Program Director/Coordinator.
- Assist or organize staff professional development activities.
- Assist in the development evaluation of student curriculum.
- Assist in the evaluation of staff.
- Assist with annual licensing and coordinated program review.
- Assist in the development and implementation of monitoring systems for all program components.
- Supervise staff and assist in the preparation of I.E.P.’s.
- Responsible for all program activities and supervision of staff in the absence of the Program Director/Coordinator.
- Assist in the screening and admission of new students.
- Assist in the interviewing of all prospective candidates for teachers, therapists and paraprofessionals.
- Submit requisitions for program equipment and materials.
- Facilitate the placement of students in the program including both entrance and exit placement.
- Assist in the preparation of all program budgets, grants, and/or contracts.
- Attend appropriate professional meetings and conventions as assigned by the Program Director/Coordinator.
- Implement and monitor data collection.
- Participate in all required in-service training
- Participate in the intake of a student referral and the transition of a student.
- Follow all policies and procedures as established by the South Shore Educational Collaborative
- Utilizing de-escalation, protective measures, and physical management techniques (including lifting and moving) as prescribed in SSEC approved physical management training programs when appropriate with students.
- Maintain consistent work attendance which includes; arriving to work on time each day, working the entire day and notifying the program director/coordinator a minimum of 24 hours in advance for a personal day whenever possible.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding information for all SSEC staff, students and their families.
- Perform other duties as may from time to time be assigned by the program director/coordinator.
Mandatory participation in all of the following SSEC sponsored trainings to include but not limited to:
1. Successful completion of SSEC approved restraint trainings, full and/or recertification annually as appropriate.
2. Maintain active CPR/First Aid certification.
3. Successful completion of all SSEC approved threat assessment training.
4. Successful completion of required training hours for 7D licensure if requested by the Program Director/Coordinator.
