Summary:
The Banquet Servers work together collectively to perform serving duties at preplanned dinners and events. His/her primary responsibility involves carrying trays, assisting the Banquet Houseman in setting up for events, serving guests, and cleaning up after the event. This role requires a high degree of collaboration. The act of serving guests for Banquet Servers is done in teams versus a Food and Beverage Server who is assigned individual tables or sections to cover. There are not any guaranteed hours for this role as the need for Banquet Servers is dependent upon business levels. Below is a comprehensive list of essential functions of a Banquet Server. This list does not include all responsibilities and other duties may be assigned by management as needed.
Essential Functions:
1. Provide assistance to banquet managers in the serving of guests during banquet functions to ensure positive guest experience.
2. Assist as needed with the set up of the banquet room as requested by the supervisor to include glassware, servware, linen.
3. Greet and welcome guests and respond to their requests in a courteous and friendly manner
4. Serve the beverage and food in the appropriate order and in tune with the expectation of the supervisor so as to ensure consistency throughout the event
5. Quickly remove dishes as guests finish each meal at the end of each meal or function
6. Abide by all corporate act, laws and requirements pertaining to serving food and alcoholic beverages
7. Replenish beverages when necessary, and check with guests to make sure they are satisfied
8. After the banquet, reset banquet room in accordance with the supervisor’s specifications to ensure the readiness of the room for other functions
9. Follow all hotel required policy and procedure regarding cash handling, attendance, customer service, etc.
10. Perform other related functions that may be assigned.
Preferred Education and Experience:
1. High School Diploma
2. Preferred Hotel industry experience
3. Considerable and meaningful experience as a Banquet Server preferred
