Job Description Summary
South Shore Hospital is looking for experienced step-down RNs to join their Intermediate Care Unit team (IMCU). The IMCU bridges the gap between critical/intensive care and general medical-surgical care, serving patients with complex medical needs, requiring close monitoring, including those transitioning from the CCU/ICU.

Intermediate Care RN Job Responsibilities:
Provide individualized, outcome-oriented nursing care through the nursing process, ensuring a high level of patient satisfaction and outcomes.
Nursing Process:
- Medication Administration:
Follow SSH policies and procedures for administering, transcribing, and recording medications.
Complete medication reconciliation process following SSH policy and procedure.
Properly document narcotic administration, verify counts, waste per policy, and resolve narcotic discrepancies. - Plan of Care/Documentation/Patient Family Centered Care/Patient Experience:
Develop, discuss, and communicate a prioritized problem list/plan of care for each patient.
Update individualized plan of care for patient and documents outcomes.
Assess/reassess and documents patient's level of comfort utilizing pain scale and response to interventions. - Safety/Quality - Culture of Safety:
Verify patient identification with two identifiers prior to invasive procedures.
Comply with CDC hand hygiene guidelines and universal precautions.
Ensure environment meets regulatory requirements. - Professional Development:
Obtain at least 5 contact hours per year in area of practice.
Practice within legal boundaries of MA Nurse Practice Act.
Display ability to accept and respond to feedback and recommendations for change. - Technology:
Access Lotus Notes for email, learning management, and other resources.
Utilize software applications required by department and unit standards. - Compliance:
Work within legal, regulatory, and ethical standards relevant to position.
Comply with applicable policies and procedures.
Safeguard patient information and comply with privacy and security programs. - Patient and Family Centered Care:
Convey respect for patient values, preferences, and expressed needs.

Requirements:
Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
Previous Acute Care RN experience preferred
Required Licenses/Certifications:
RN - Registered Nurse
Depending on department Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification, Emergency Response Training Certification, Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Certification, Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC), Trauma Care After Resuscitation (TCAR) Certification may be required
