South Shore Technical seeks a part time, school year Instructional Aide to fill an identified role for the 2023-2024 school year as an 1:1 instructional aide,
with duties located both on and off campus, following the student's schedule. Specific duties are subject to revision and reassignment as the needs of
students and/or the district require.
Hours: 31.25 hours per week, (7:40 AM - 2:25 PM) Monday - Friday, on days when school is in session.
Schedule includes a .50 hour duty-free meal break.
Hours of work assignments are subject to change, depending on student's needs and schedule.
The 2023-2024 school year begins August 29, 2023 through June 11, 2024
Dates are subject to change due to weather or other unforeseen emergencies that cause school cancellations.
Support Unit position eligible for paid sick and personal leave per the Unit B Contract.

In accordance with the Agreement between South Shore Regional School District Committee and
South Shore Vocational Technical Teachers' Federation Support Unit B and specifications of grant funding, where applicable.
Reports To: Director of Special Education
Qualifications: Ability to relate to adolescents, High School or higher graduate.
Vocational/Technical school based experience is a plus.
Job Goal:To assist teachers in Vocational and Academic programs, to assist the teacher to achieve objectives by working with individual students or small groups.
Performance Responsibilities:
1.Under supervision of an approved teacher, prepare for shop and classroom activities
2.Work with small groups of students to reinforce material initially introduced by teacher
3.Assist individual students in need of special attention
4.Guide independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work set up by teacher
5.Set up audiovisual equipment (assistive technology)
6.Assist teacher with non-instructional classroom duties
7.Assist teacher in devising special strategies for reinforcing material or skills based on a sympathetic understanding of individual students,
their needs, interests, and abilities
8.Serve as a source of information and help for substitute teachers assigned in the absence of the regular teacher
9.Alert the regular teacher to any problem or provide special information about an individual student
10.Maintain the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected of fully licensed teacher.
11.Participate in in-service training programs, as assigned.
12.Other duties deemed necessary by the administration for the effective operation of the school and the welfare of the students.

South Shore students often require support, tutorial small group and individual assistance – monitoring of progress and sometimes-adaptive
modification to function on tasks in the shop or class. The aide will familiarize student with shop and classroom safety and operating regulations.
