Description
As the Assistant Camp Director, you provide leadership in all matters pertaining to camp and serve as the acting Director as needed. Prior to camp, you will work with year-round staff to prepare materials and spaces for staff training and the camp season and assist in leading training activities for staff. You will be well versed in creating a camp culture and be knowledgeable about child development and behavior management.

Description
As the Assistant Camp Director, you provide leadership in all matters pertaining to camp and serve as the acting Director as needed. Specific Job Duties
- Assist the Camp Director in managing daily camp administration, including compiling rosters and reports; attending weekly staff meetings; and coordinating group schedules.
- Communicate with camper guardians regarding camp questions and camper information, in coordination with the Camp Director.
- Assist and mentor camp staff during their training weeks and throughout the camp season, modeling and filling in for camp staff as needed
- Oversee Camp Coordinators in developing daily and weekly schedules and plans.
- Attend training for and act as the Health Care Supervisor, along with the Camp Director by coordinating and overseeing first aid and camper medications as necessary.
- Provide leadership in the development of camp culture and safeguard the well-being of all staff members.
- In coordination with the Camp Director, Camp Nurse, and Inclusion Specialist, act as a primary contact for camper health and safety issues, and all camp-related activities that require direction and/or assistance.
- Organize daily camp staff chores to organize, prepare for, and close each day.
- Attend training and act as backup Camp Director in the event of the Camp Director’s absence.
- Other duties as assigned with or without accommodation.

- PROGRAM MANAGEMENT & DEVELOPMENT Assists in directing and supervises program activities to meet the needs of the community and fulfill YMCA objectives. Helps establish new program activities and expands program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
- STAFF ENGAGEMENT & DEVELOPMENT Helps hire, train, manage, develop, schedules, and directs staff and volunteers as needed. Develops strategies to motivate staff.
- PARTICIPANT ENGAGEMENT & DEVELOPMENT Builds relationships with and among participants, responds to inquiries and solves problems. Creates a safe and supportive community environment, assists in recruiting and engaging new participants, and connects members to the YMCA’s cause. - BUDGET & FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT Assists the Camp Director in signing campers up with payments.
- FACILITY MANAGEMENT Works with appropriate camp staff to provide program facilities for participants that are clean, safe, adequately equipped, well maintained, and attractive.
- VOLUNTEER DEVELOPMENT Builds and develops volunteer capacity, sharing the social responsibility.
- COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT & SUPPORT Promotes community involvement and engages in collaborative relationships with members, campers, and camp families to strengthen support and build community.

- 2-3 years of camp experience of related work experience
- Experience in program development
- Experience in staff management
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word and Excel
