The Camper Support Team is responsible for assisting the Director Day Camp with the implementation of inclusion programming, relevant training, and promotion of the Inclusion Initiative throughout the association.
Reports to: Director Day Camp
CORE EXPECTATIONS:
Mission and Community Oriented Models and teaches YMCA values, inclusion activities, strategies, and initiatives; ensures high-level service. Provide volunteers with orientation, training, development, and recognition. Reports directly to the Director of Inclusion providing a unique and necessary assessment of programming and procedures which helps to guide upper-level strategic planning for overall association.
People Oriented Effectively communicate with audiences of all levels; listen for understanding when dealing with conflict; provide staff with feedback, coaching, guidance and support. Utilization and promotion of positive support techniques.
Results Oriented Provides guidance for launching programs and framework for making decisions. Develops plans and manages best practices through team engagement and holds staff accountable for high quality results. Effectively manages budgets and cultivates relationships to support fundraising. Stays current on the latest research, practices and trends in the inclusion field, makes recommendations for integration into YMCA offerings.
Personal Development Seeks to effectively model and promote established best practices, addresses sensitive issues, and provides strategies to improve performance. Facilitate change and models adaptability and awareness of its impact.
Qualifications
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk and talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, or crouch.
The South Shore YMCA Day Camp operates Monday through Friday between June 16 to August 22, 2025. Successful applicants are expected to be available for the full camp season. Applicants are expected to be available for training the week of June 7th during after-school hours.

- Directs and supervises program activities to meet the inclusion needs of our membership. Assists with program development and provides primary oversight and/or guidance to SSYMCA summer camps, including management of designated sensory smart week. Creates curriculum and serves as an instructor as assigned. Implements screening process, acts as liaison to family and/or support systems and assists with program evaluations.
- STAFF ENGAGEMENT & DEVELOPMENT
- Working with the Director, develop and implement inclusion training for staff, volunteers, and members. Leads camp inclusion team on all day camp sites and provides regular check-in and communication with the Director and assigned program directors or coordinators where programming is provided. On-going guidance to inclusion and program staff on promotion of best practices, strategies, and positive behavioral supports.
- MEMBERSHIP ENGAGEMENT & DEVELOPMENT
- Develop plans that enable members to be successful while participating in programming, classes, and events. Communicates regularly with family members, school, and/or support systems of members seeking inclusion support. Development of individual support plans works with team members to ensure supports are in place. Works with Dthe irector to promote relationships with outside agencies and programs affiliated with supporting persons with disabilities. Active in the promotion and participation of our Family and Community Network. Creates a culture of inclusion at the Y, assists in recruiting and engaging new members, and connects members to the YMCA’s cause.
- VOLUNTEER DEVELOPMENT
- Builds a development plan and provides support for inclusion interns and volunteers. Recruit families to become involved in the South Shore YMCA Family and Community Network and/or other designated committees.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Education, Child Development, Social Work, Special Education, Psychology, Child Psychology, Human Services, or a related field.
- Knowledge and experience of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and Positive Behavior Support (PBS)
- Minimum of 3 years of related experience
- Computer experience required: Microsoft office suite including Word & Excel. Training in internal operating software provided.
- The ability to develop positive, effective working relationships with, staff, children & families.
- Effective teaching skills, the ability to implement methods to address and follow up with member needs/concerns appropriately and reflecting an attitude that values diversity is required.
- Demonstrates skills in staff and volunteer development, planning, and supervision.
