SUMMARY:
The Volunteer Youth Engagement Role Model plays a vital role in supporting the YMCA’s mission of strengthening the community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. This position helps create a safe, engaging, and high-quality experience for youth by assisting with program development, organization, and implementation. Must be available from 2:00PM - 6:00PM on weekdays.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Warmly welcome members – Greet all members by name during check-in to foster a friendly and inclusive environment.
- Supervise Youth Engagement activities – Monitor and engage with youth to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience.
- Encourage positive interactions – Guide youth toward healthy peer interactions and participation in fun, engaging activities.
- Contribute to program development – Provide input for new Youth Engagement activities and help expand programming.
- Assist with outreach – Support the marketing and distribution of program information to families.
- Track participation – Monitor Youth Engagement usage and provide feedback on activities and events.
- Additional responsibilities – Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
You must be at minimum 14 years of age or older and enjoy working with children and youth ranging from 8 to 17 years of age. If you are interested in volunteering with the South Sound YMCA, create an account and submit your online volunteer application.

Background Certification: I certify that all the information provided on this application is true and complete. I authorize the South Sound YMCA (“YMCA”) to investigate and verify any and all information I have submitted. I understand that the YMCA may order a criminal history check and that extensive inquiry may be made concerning my activities and character. I may be asked by YMCA staff to provide my social security number. I fully consent to and authorize all such inquiries.
Volunteer Terms: I agree to abide by the YMCA’s policies, procedures and Code of Conduct. I understand that the YMCA does not provide any health benefits or any accident insurance for me as a volunteer. I understand that the YMCA does not provide volunteer compensation or trade volunteer services for membership, program fees, services, etc.
Property Loss: I understand that the YMCA is not responsible for personal property lost, damaged or stolen while I’m participating in YMCA volunteer activities, using YMCA facilities or participating in YMCA programs.
Medical Treatment: I give permission for YMCA representatives to provide or arrange for emergency care for me, and to arrange for transport to an emergency center for treatment. I consent to medical treatment deemed immediately necessary or advisable by a physician if I am unable to act on my own behalf. I further understand that the YMCA is not responsible for payment of such medical treatment.
Photographic Permission: I acknowledge that during the course of my volunteering with the YMCA, photos or other recordings may be taken of me. I hereby give permission for the YMCA (local, national and international) to use, without limitation or obligation, photographs or other media that may include my image or voice to promote or interpret YMCA programs.
