    The Human Resources Department is accepting online applications for the position of Elementary Principal at Lincoln Center. This is a full-time, 12-month position, and will start July 1, 2025. We offer a competitive salary and benefits package with salary placement based on education and experience as indicated in 2023-25 Principals' Collective Bargaining Agreement. The salary range for this position is $138,498 to $149,465.

    Job Summary

    The Elementary Principal serves as the instructional and operational leader of the school, fostering a safe, inclusive, and high-achieving learning environment. The principal promotes academic excellence, supports staff development, and builds strong partnerships with families and the broader school community. This role requires a visionary leader who is committed to equity, continuous improvement, and student success.

    Job Functions

    Instructional Leadership


    • Guide and support high-quality instructional practices aligned with district goals and curriculum
    • Lead professional learning communities (PLCs) to promote collaborative, data-driven decision-making
    • Implement and monitor school improvement plans focused on student achievement
    • Promote effective use of assessment data to inform teaching and learning

    Staff Supervision and Development


    • Hire, supervise, evaluate, and support licensed and non-licensed school staff
    • Foster a culture of professional growth through coaching, feedback, and ongoing development
    • Model and promote best practices in leadership, collaboration, and instructional excellence

    School Culture and Equity


    • Create and maintain a safe, inclusive, and supportive school environment
    • Promote equity and culturally responsive practices across all aspects of the school
    • Implement systems to support student behavior, social-emotional learning, and well-being
    • Celebrate student and staff successes to build a positive school identity

    Family and Community Engagement


    • Build strong, respectful partnerships with families and community stakeholders
    • Communicate effectively with diverse audiences to ensure transparency and trust
    • Encourage family involvement in school activities and student learning

    Operational and Organizational Management


    • Oversee day-to-day school operations, including scheduling, facilities, and school safety
    • Manage budgets and resources effectively in alignment with district policies
    • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal requirements
    • Lead crisis response and ensure emergency preparedness plans are in place


    Supervisory Responsibilities

    • Oversees the daily management of the school and office.
    • Oversees educators in the school, providing periodic observations and evaluations that are timely and constructive, and completed based on the timetables set by the school district.
    • Offers additional training and guidance as necessary based on evaluations of professional staff.
    • Hires all faculty and staff for the school and presides over hearings that may be necessary to dismiss a staff member.
    • Oversees, hires, and evaluates the performance of clerical, janitorial, and cafeteria staff.


    Other Duties/Responsibilities

    • Ensures a productive learning environment through continual collaboration with teachers, students, and parents.
    • Facilitates opportunities to connect with students by being present and available during arrival and dismissal, by appearing at school functions, and by meeting with students.
    • Enforces disciplinary policies and procedures with students.
    • Participates in parent meetings and conferences and acts as intermediary between parents, teachers, and students to deal with a variety of needs or issues.
    • Maintains competency and student academic achievement as prescribed by the school board.
    • Presides over staff meetings.
    • Ensures completion of routine and required paperwork including attendance reports, test results, and licensing information for students, educators, staff, and school management.
    • Ensures that necessary maintenance and repairs to the school property are performed.
    • Coordinates staff development for faculty and staff; provides instruction if needed.
    • Oversees the allocation of supplies and equipment.
    • Oversees and implements the school budget, approving new programs and expenditures as appropriate.
    • Represents the school in community activities and meetings.
    • Interacts with various stakeholders to foster a positive relationship between the school and community including the PTA, community organizations, and leaders.
    • Acts as liaison between the district and the school; communicates needs and information to both sides.
    • Collaborates with other principals and educators throughout the district to choose and develop curriculum and textbooks that align with local, state, and national standards.
    • Performs other related duties as assigned.


    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

    • Valid K-12 Minnesota Administrative Licensure
    • Five years successful experience as an elementary principal, experience as an associate principal or assistant principal as the elementary level, or experience in an instructional leadership position at the elementary level, or a combination
    • Proven instructional and data leader
    • Thorough understanding of instructional methodology
    • Successful experience in facilitating educational change and continuous school improvement
    • Demonstrated skills in effective collaboration, teamwork, facilitation and mediation.
    • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
    • Ability to develop effective working relationships with students, staff and the school community.
    • Comprehensive knowledge of principles and practices of modern education and ability to apply them to the needs of the school.
    • Ability to evaluate staff effectively. Knowledge of various evaluation tools and implementation of performance improvement strategies.
    • Successful experience in working with diverse populations and the ability to communicate with individuals of varied cultural and educational backgrounds.
    • Knowledge of law pertaining to schools.
    • Ability to manage fiscal resources.

    • Proven use of technology effectively including the use of Google apps, email, Internet navigation and Microsoft Office

    Physical Requirements

    Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, operate a computer and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms, and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. The employee is occasionally required to lift and/or move up to and over 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
