- Administer first aid and medical care to students as needed, including managing minor injuries, illnesses, and administering prescribed medications.
- Monitor and assess students for signs of illness or injury and provide appropriate interventions.
- Maintain and update student health records, including documentation of medical treatments, health concerns, and communications with families.
- Collaborate with school staff, parents, and caregivers to address any health-related concerns or medical needs of students.
- Ensure the proper handling and storage of medications, as well as adherence to health and safety protocols.
- Communicate with parents or guardians regarding medical care provided, and follow up on any ongoing health issues.
- Assist in maintaining a clean, safe, and healthy school environment.
- Develop and implement health and safety protocols related to illness prevention, especially in a summer school setting.
- Provide health education and resources to students, staff, and families as needed.
- Ensure compliance with district, state, and federal health regulations and guidelines.
- Respond to emergency situations and administer appropriate care, including contacting emergency medical services if necessary.
- Attend staff meetings and participate in training as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Minnesota School Nurse License
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Demonstrated ability to handle emergency situations calmly and effectively.
- Knowledge of childhood illnesses, medical treatments, and health-related issues common in an elementary school setting.
