Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Dietary Aide to join our team in providing high-quality food service in a nursing home environment. The ideal candidate will assist in meal preparation, food handling, and ensuring that all dietary needs are met for our residents. This role is essential to maintaining the health and well-being of our residents through proper nutrition and food safety practices.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation and serving of meals according to dietary guidelines and resident preferences.
- Ensure compliance with food safety standards during meal preparation and service.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and dining areas, including washing dishes and sanitizing surfaces.
- Help with inventory management by monitoring stock levels of food supplies and reporting shortages.
- Support the cook in food production tasks as needed, including chopping vegetables, assembling plates, and portioning meals.
- Communicate effectively with nursing staff regarding resident dietary needs and preferences.
- Participate in training sessions to enhance knowledge of dietetics, food safety, and nutrition.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Dietary Aide or in the food industry is preferred but not required.
- Knowledge of meal preparation techniques, food handling practices, and food safety regulations.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment while also being self-motivated.
- Strong communication skills to interact with residents, staff, and visitors positively.
- A passion for providing excellent service to enhance the dining experience for residents.
- Flexibility to work various shifts as needed, including weekends and holidays.
