SUMMARY/OBJECTIVES
This position is responsible for, but not limited to, managing and supervising the Relationship Managers of the Government Guaranteed Lending Department on U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) 7a loans and U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) commercial loans. Incumbents are expected to recruit, hire, on-board, and assist all RM’s under their supervision as a primary job responsibility; also expected to meet their own production goals as an SBA Sales Manager, which are set annually by the Bank.

Responsibilities:
This position is expected to perform the specific duties, tasks, and responsibilities as outlined below:
Interviews loan applicants, and collects and analyzes financial and related data to determine the general creditworthiness of the prospect and the merits of the specific loan request
Establishes, and negotiates terms under which credit will be extended, including the costs, repayment method, and schedule and collateral requirements
Collects and analyzes information that reflects the current creditworthiness of customers and the current merits of existing loans. May obtain information through direct inspection of the applicant’s business and/or collateral, review of interim financial reports, personal interview, and other means
Presents loan requests to the appropriate approver when the proposed loan dollar volume exceeds the assigned Credit Administrator authority
Authorizes or rejects overdrafts in depository account within established authorities
Monitors loan repayment activities and takes necessary action to collect from past-due accounts
Develops new business by contacting prospects and customers, cross-sells bank services
Prepares lending activity reports for department management.
Keeps abreast of local and national economic, financial, political and legislative events and climates which could have an impact on corporate and commercial lending activities.
Keeps abreast of SBA loan program regulations, and assures adherence to said regulations.
Participates in community affairs to increase the bank’s visibility and to enhance new business opportunities.
Maintains professional and community relations to increase the bank’s visibility and new business opportunities, and to further personal development.
Ensure that the Bank’s policies and procedures, code of conduct, and regulatory guidelines are strictly complied with
Provide assistance to other employees by working with them through healthy and positive interactions
Be involved in performing marketing endeavors/efforts
Continuously update skills by participating in professional training
Seek opportunities to improve skills through cross-training offered by the Bank
Recruits and seeks out qualified candidates as Government Lending Relationship Managers (RM)
Interviews the candidates and analyzes their resumes, qualifications, ability to generate good quality loan opportunities, and their ability to be successful within the Bank’s business model. Communicate with the candidates on the Department’s business model, to include job title, territories, commission plan, SBA Guidelines, credit dynamics, and expectations for loan production. Performs the necessary due diligence on all recommended RM’s to cross check their qualifications, resume, and experience.
Recommends candidates for employment that appear to meet the Bank’s qualifications to Human Resources and the Director of Government Lending.
Assists all new hire RMs with the on-boarding process(es) at the Bank, to include ordering all needed computers and work equipment/supplies, systems training (such as Credit Quest, VIP, Margin Maximizer, etc.), and getting enrolled with Human Resources for benefits and pay.
Constantly works with both new hires and seasoned RMs in the generation of quality loan referrals. This includes constant pre-screening on loans and working within the credit system of the Bank to obtain loan approvals where the loan request meets the Bank’s credit parameters. Among the factors to be considered on loans is how that loan fits within the framework of the Bank’s credit appetite.
Work with the RMs to expeditiously move loans through the underwriting and closing processes, assisting as needed in order to assure the flow of loans into and through the processes is smooth and timely.
Monitor and track loan production for each RM on their team to assure the overall level of loan production in the Bank’s budget is met or exceeded. This incorporates setting expectations with each RM on the level of loan production and supporting, encouraging, mentoring, and measuring the results.
Work with the Director of Government Lending as needed on rewarding the superior performers as well and counseling and setting expectations with those who are not meeting their production goals or are otherwise not performing at the expected level.

Qualifications, Education, and Certification Requirements
Education : Bachelor’s Degree in Business, finance or equivalent.
Experience : 3-5 years of previous Commercial Lending Experience in a bank or loan setting. Minimum of 2 years’ experience in government lending preferred.

TRAINING REQUIREMENTS/CLASSES
Required annual compliance training; New Employee Orientation

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Must be able to effectively access and interpret information on computer screens, documents, reports, and cash denominations, and identify customers. This position requires a large amount of time in front of a computer. This can be done sitting or standing with use of the right desk. This position may require bending and reaching.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Telecommuting roles no matter if hybrid or 100% full time telecommuting must have a secure home office environment that is free from background noise and distractions. They must also have a reliable private internet connection that is not supplied by use of cellular data (hot spot). Cable or fiber connections are preferred. Requirements are subject to change, as new systems and technology is delivered. Travel may be required to come to meetings as needed.
