Job Details:
The Afterschool Program Paraprofessional at collaborates closely with the SSELC Coordinator to ensure the successful execution of diverse afterschool program activities. Whether it’s assisting during program sessions, facilitating student engagement, or contributing to the overall program experience, your active involvement is essential.
The program consists of Monday – Thursday afterschool programming operating from January 27, 2025 – May 23, 2025. The afterschool program will run 52 days, 2:20 to 4:20 pm, Monday through Thursday.
All program hours must be during out-of-school time. All duties must be performed during non-contractual hours—monthly meetings with the Director, days/times TBD.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma/GED or equivalent;
- Belief in the commitment to increasing personal growth, both academic and social-emotional, to obtain the highest level of achievement for every student;
- Experience working with at-risk students and ability to meet the needs of students with diverse learning needs;
- Experience in implementing after-school activities for children;
- Organized, creative, flexible, and reliable;
- Ability to assist in the planning and facilitation of academic enrichment workshops aligned with specific standards/focus in Socioemotional Learning;
- Knowledge of current education legislation/regulations preferred;
- Ability to work effectively with teachers, support staff, and parents;
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills and ability to work with all stakeholders;
- Certified in CPR and First Aid preferred
- Preference will be given to staff members currently employed as a paraprofessional in FPS;
- Applicants must commit to being present for the full duration of the program.
Responsibilities:
- Under the direction of the SSELC Coordinator, support and assist with all program and skill-building activities as needed;
- Complete surveys and/or program observations as required by the titled grant;
- Assist SSELC coordinator with a snack, transition times, and dismissal;
- Participate in staff meetings at the request of the Site Coordinator or 21st Century Administrator.
- Other duties as assigned.

Hours:
South Street Early Learning Center: 2:40 - 4:40 PM
Total Compensation:
Not To Exceed (NTE) 160 hours at the paraprofessional’s contractual pay rate. This amount includes all program time as well as all prep and wrap-up required - timesheet submission for payment bi-weekly.
Terms of Employment/Salary/Work Year:
As negotiated by the Fitchburg School Committee and the Fitchburg Education Association (FEA).
Stipends require a timesheets to be submitted on a bi-weekly basis.
