Description
The WEI College to Career Coach works under the supervision of the WEI Project Manager as part of the Workforce Equity Initiative Grant. This position has the responsibility of working with students to provide wrap-around services for participants enrolled or enrolling in the following career path programs : Certified Nursing Assistant, Patient Care Technician, Community Health Worker, Contact Tracing, Solar Photovoltaic, Forklift and Barber Technician. This position is funded through September 30, 2025.
The College to Career Coach provides comprehensive support services and information resources that enable students to engage in a successful academic career path, career development and job search process; prepare students for the workforce academically and through soft-skill / leadership development; assist students in securing suitable employment through a variety of job-readiness activities; foster employer and community relationships and identify opportunities for students to develop professional skills, integrate academic learning from work, and find jobs. College to Career Coach is responsible for managing a student case load of approximately 150 students, including the identification, intake, placement, monitoring, advising, planning, and documentation of each participant
Examples of Duties
- Manage a caseload of approximately 150 student participants with the goal of certificate completion within 12mos and placement into the selected career workforce.
- Implement and adhere to grant goals, objectives and expectations as outlined in the approved application. Provide reports and deliver presentations as requested.
- Initiate, complete and document the participant eligibility screening, intake, planning and placement of each participant.
- Develop, implement, and monitor an academic plan, career plan, and intervention plan with each participant in accordance to grant processes and procedures.
- Meet regularly, as defined in the approved application, with participants and document each interaction appropriately.
- Assist with development of participant cover letters, resumes, professional documents, and professional social media branding.
- Provide career exploration, job search, and employment advising / coaching participants.
- Provide academic, social, and emotional support for participants.
- Maintain accurate files / records for each participant, documenting activities and progress in accordance to grant processes and procedures.
- Participate in drop-in hours, career fairs, special events, workshops, seminars and trainings at times and locations identified by the supervisor or grant leadership.
- Collaborate with faculty, administrators, and campus departments to support participant needs and coordinate programming.
- Responsible for the implementation and attainment of approved grant application programming and activities, goals, objectives, and outcomes.
- Support College-wide goals and objectives as outlined in the College's strategic plan.
