Description
Under the direction of the Director of Institutional Research, the Research Analyst is responsible for conducting research studies and providing effective and useful analytical reports on behalf of the Department of Institutional Research.
Examples of Duties
- Conduct surveys, evaluations, and research projects according to the needs of the department promoting institutional effectiveness at the College.
- Serves as a liaison for the department to ensure appropriate use and access to system data and coordination of data and reports.
- Coordinate data verification and integrity in institutional systems to ensure accurate and appropriate reporting.
- Has experience reporting with data warehouses and business intelligence software platforms such as Tableau or similar products.
- Demonstrate proficiency with analyzing large and complex data sets and can make information accessible to general audiences in a higher education context.
- The analyst demonstrates proficiency in preparing official reports to South Suburban College, State and Federal governments, and accrediting agencies. Examples include IPEDS reporting, program accreditation, Common Data Set, and Business Intelligence Dashboards and Visualizations.
- Coordinate data collection for grant applications and guidebook surveys (including US News & World Report, College Board, Peterson’s, and various mandated requests).
- Prepare reports and analyses for use by College administrators and departments.
- Demonstrate skill in the preparation of official reports for federal, state, and local government agencies, accreditation agencies, and external parties.
- Experience working in high-pace work environments requiring precision work and can manage multiple tasks with little supervision.
- Maintain daily operations of the office including identifying any resource needs for the department, where appropriate.
- Demonstrate a strong capability to summarize complex data and make interpretations of that data accessible to a variety of audiences.
- Demonstrate ability to organize workloads and record keeping.
- Process purchase orders and budget requests, as necessary.
- Maintain records of all office accounts.
- Establish good working relationships with officials and staff at South Suburban College and other outside agencies as necessary.
- Other related duties may be assigned.
Typical Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree is required.
- Excellent communication skills.
- One to three years extensive experience analyzing and summarizing complex data with Excel, Access, Tableau, SPSS, R or similar statistical software packages.
- Knowledge of Ellucian Colleague or similar SIS/CRM systems.
- Must successfully pass a criminal background check.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge of SQL query reporting.
STATUS & BENEFITS:This is a regular full-time Support Staff position for 35 hours a week, 52 weeks a year. Classified Grade XII on the Support Staff Salary Schedule. The work hours are Monday-Friday, 8:30am-4:30pm. The annual salary comes with the following employee benefits: • $15,200 Annual Flexible Health Benefit: • 10 Vacation, 12 Medical and 3 Personal Days Earned within First Year of Employment • 16 Holidays, 5 Winter break days, 4-Day Summer Workweek
