Position Summary: Nurse Practitioner (Orthopedic Spine)
Join our esteemed orthopedic practice as a dedicated Nurse Practitioner, playing a pivotal role in providing medical exams, diagnostic evaluations, and therapeutic medical care under the supervision of a Physician. Your expertise will be crucial in developing comprehensive treatment plans, including radiology exams, physical therapy, joint injections, spinal injections, medications, and bone densitometry.
Qualifications:
- Must meet all state and federal licensure qualifications for a Nurse Practitioner, including board certification.
- One or more years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner, preferably in orthopedics.
- Ability to perform complex medical decision-making independently under stressful conditions.
- Computer literate with fundamental skills required for duties.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Demonstrated ability to document clinical care activities clearly and concisely according to accepted medical standards.
Education:
- Graduate of an AMA-accredited Nurse Practitioner program; MS preferred.
Licensure/Certification:
- Current Texas NP license.
- Board Certified through The American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP).
- CPR / BLS certified & current
Experience:
- Minimum of 1 year experience as a Certified Nurse Practitioner.
Other Knowledge/Skills:
- Effective communication and collaboration with others.
- Analytical skills in analyzing biopsychosocial data and making responsible decisions within the scope of a dependent medical practitioner.
- Demonstrated skill in program development.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide direct patient care, including histories and physicals, assessments, and treatment plans.
- Travel to specific office locations for assigned clinic days to see patients in office.
- Develop and recommend comprehensive treatment plans for patients, incorporating various modalities.
- Administer intramuscular injections, joint injections, and trigger point injections.
- Offer guidance to medical assistants, radiology, and ultrasound technologists.
- Collaborate effectively with physicians, medical assistants, schedulers, billers, and administrative staff.
- Maintain a patient caseload as an integral member of the clinical team.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Provide oversight to medical assistants in the clinical care team.
- Offer education to clinical staff to ensure quality care and patient safety.
- Observe and coach medical staff to improve performance of duties and interactions with patients.
Physical Demands:
- May be expected to lift 25 to 150 pounds with assistance.
- Work involves walking or standing most of the time.
- Visual and auditory acuity, as well as manual dexterity, are essential.
- Conditions are clean, neat, and well-lit, with occasional exposure to stressful situations, unpleasant sights or odors, and infectious diseases.
- Climate control and ambient temperature variances may be experienced.
- Hours of duty may be irregular or unexpectedly extended.
