What are the responsibilities and job description for the Varsity Girls Basketball Coach position at SOUTH UMPQUA SD 19?
Position Overview:
South Umpqua High School is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable individual to lead our Varsity Girls Basketball program. The ideal candidate will foster a positive, competitive environment that promotes teamwork, sportsmanship, and the overall development of student-athletes both on and off the court.
Qualifications:
Previous basketball coaching experience is strongly preferred.
Must meet certification requirements as outlined by the Oregon School Activities Association (OSAA).
Demonstrated expertise in coaching techniques, injury prevention, and basketball strategy at a competitive level.
A background as a basketball player is desirable.
Must possess a valid First Aid/CPR certification at the time of hire.
Ability to build strong, respectful relationships with student-athletes, staff, and parents.
Commitment to supporting student-athlete academic success and personal growth.
Additional Responsibilities:
Develop and implement effective practice plans and game strategies.
Promote a culture of integrity, discipline, and accountability.
Communicate clearly with players, parents, and school staff.
Coordinate with the Athletic Director regarding program needs and OSAA compliance.
Supervise assistant coaches and mentor players at all levels of the program.

Salary per season- $4,625-$5,418 depending on experience
