What are the responsibilities and job description for the Wastewater Operator (Collections) position at South Valley Sewer District?
Under the supervision of the Field Services Director, performs a variety of tasks involving the general operation and maintenance of the District’s sewer collection system and related facilities and equipment.
Duties may include, but are not limited to:
- Operating & troubleshooting problems using a TV Truck, related camera, and equipment to inspect wastewater lines.
- Operating a combination unit jet truck.
- U.S. work authorization.
- Inspecting, maintaining, and conducting routine tests on the interiors of wastewater lines and pump stations.
- Removing and inspecting manhole covers and manholes.
- Reading maps, and construction drawings and following instructions in establishing routes and work schedules.
- Maintaining records and logs; completing reports as necessary and working with the Engineering Department to ensure accuracy.
- Performing other duties as assigned by the Director of Field Services and/or the General Manager.
Requirements include:
- U.S. work authorization.
- A pre-screen drug test and driver’s license check are required
- High school diploma or GED.
- Ability to work cooperatively with supervisors, peers, contractors, and members of the general public under varying circumstances.
- Available to be on call. Availability to work overtime if required, to respond to emergencies with diverse operational demands.
- A valid Utah driver’s license. Within 30 days of hire must obtain a temporary CDL license. Within 90 days a permanent Class B CDL license with a current medical card and tanker and air brakes endorsements.
- Must obtain a Wastewater Collection Systems Grade I Certification within twenty-four (24) months of hire.
